Some of the team will be enjoying some time off, so the office will be closed from 4pm December 22nd 2016 and we will return on January 3rd 2017. Over the break, we have a skeleton crew available to assist you. Please send an email to support or leave a message when calling and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
It sounds obvious, but your password should be unique and kept secret. It is also wise to change your password every 2 to 3 months. This makes sure that if anyone does know what your password is, they won’t for long.
If you ever suspect that someone else may know your password, you should change it immediately. Never tell anyone what your password is and be suspicious of anyone ever asking for your password via phone or email. You should avoid ever sending your password via an unsecure method such as email, as this could be an attempt to ‘Phish’
Most people are aware that the nbn is now rolling out across the country, but what you may not know is that businesses will not get switched over automatically. Canberra businesses will need to switch over before they get switched off.
Services provided over the nbn will replace phone and Internet services running on most of the existing landline networks. This upgrade to our existing telecommunications infrastructure means businesses can expect faster and more reliable broadband, better Wi-Fi, e-commerce and cloud storage.
We’ve been busy here at Infinite over the past few months with more businesses than ever wanting Fibre Ethernet and nbn connections! – but we never lose sight of what’s happening in the lives of our team. Have you ever wondered about the person behind the voice at the end of the line?
Many of you have dealt with our systems administrator, Jonno Walmsley, over the past few years, but what you may not know is Jonno is the proud owner of what he calls “some amazingly supreme dreadlocks”… but not for long.

Until recently, Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) has been the sole solution for businesses wanting high speed broadband. However, as part of the national nbn rollout, a different type of high speed broadband is now available. Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or VDSL2 is currently being delivered to buildings where FTTP is not available or where it will take time to be installed.

One of the most common questions we get is “Why is my Internet so slow?”
While the answer may be as simple as the file size is too large to email, there may be other underlying issues. When your Internet speed or connection is slow, there are a number of small checks you can make before logging a fault with us. It is important to do these checks beforehand to ensure a technician is not called out needlessly.
These general troubleshooting checks can be done quickly to resolve immediate issues.
On 9th November 2015, Sophos released their next-gen firewall the XG series which is a huge leap above the UTM product but as it is so new there will be feature deficiencies between the two products until the XG product matures. That said the XG platform is much nicer aesthetically and the reporting is much more advanced then the previous UTM generation.
As this is such a new product we are going to post a series of blog articles of useful tips when working on the Sophos XG series.
